Is plywood susceptible to moisture?
Plywood itself is made of wood veneer + glue. The wood naturally absorbs moisture and water. Ordinary indoor models have poor waterproofing. When exposed to moisture, moisture in the south, kitchen and bathroom, it is easy to absorb water and expand, delaminate, mold, deform and warp.
Differences in levels:
Ordinary indoor plywood: afraid of moisture, can only be used in dry indoors, cannot touch water, and cannot be wet for a long time;
Waterproof/marine grade plywood: Made of waterproof glue, anti-corrosion treated, moisture and water resistant, it can be used as base in humid areas, outdoors, and in bathrooms.
Useful reminder:
The cut sections and sides of ordinary plywood are most susceptible to water intrusion. After cutting, the edges must be sealed with paint/edge strips to isolate water vapor and greatly reduce moisture deformation.
